A Tantra massage is a holistic full-body massage which, unlike traditional wellness massages, aims to deeply relax the body, calm the mind and awaken one’s own sensuality. During the massage, the entire body, including the intimate areas, is touched in a ritualistic manner.

The key principles

• Holistic approach and mindfulness: There is no rigid focus on performance or the direct aim of achieving an orgasm. The focus is on the path to well-being.
• Genital area: The massage includes the genital area (lingam for men, yoni for women), but only by prior arrangement and on a strictly respectful and mindful basis.
• Energy work: Through gentle touch and deep breathing techniques, the aim is to get the body’s so-called life energy flowing in order to release blockages.

Process and origin

These practices originated in ancient India and have been adapted to modern Western needs in what is known as ‘Neotantra’. A session is often a ritual and usually lasts between one and a half and three hours. It generally begins with a preliminary discussion and includes a period of rest afterwards.
